Is it ethically WRONG to recommend Crystal Meth to the morbidly obese?

I know it's a HORRIBLE street drug and all... and that people will boo & hiss, but SERIOUSLY!!! If they CAN'T stop eating & they're killing themselves by eating, how much worse could the effects of meth be in the attempt to get their appetites wrangled in?

You are correct that such illegal substances do share similarities with overeating disorders. Both are addictive and both can be fatal. Some of the differences between them, however, will help illustrate MY opinion:

1. The percentage of crystal meth users who die as a result of it's effects is probably higher than the percentage of obese people who die as a direct result of their physical state.

2. Possession of crystal meth is illegal, whereas possession of a cheeseburger usually slides.

3. The production of crystal meth requires extremely dangerous toxic chemicals that often result in illness or death of the people who make it. Point being that you supporting meth kills other people than yourself.

4. Ridding one's self of an eating disorder may require rigorous mental determination. Ridding one's self of a drug addiction requires rigorous mental determination AND intense physical anguish due to the altered biology in the body, more intense than hunger.

5. Nearly limitless diet alternatives exist. Hypothetically, if a person literally could not possibly stop eating in the quantities they do, they can also remedy their obesity through exercise.

So, ETHICALLY speaking, recommending crystal meth as a weight loss alternative would be terribly inadvisable. (you may just recommend dancing to a Crystal MethOD CD daily instead)
