Running twice a day for weight loss?
I am thinking about running 3 miles in the morning when I get up and in the evening after dinner. Will this help me lose weight? I currently run once a day and can handle it just fine, though I usually push myself enough to be tired after 3 miles. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I've read many articles on this kind of thing, and my advice is that just running the 3 miles in the morning would be enough. Running after your last meal of the day is bad for your muscles. This is why: after running 3 miles, you've used up a lot of energy, and your body needs to restore the energy that it lost. However, if you've already eaten dinner, your muscles won't be able to restore themselves and this is essentially bad for you.
After a vigorous workout session, your body is in a special state. In the next few hours after running this much, the things you eat will not be converted into fat as easily as usual. Instead, the food energy will be going to your muscles. So, working out in the morning and not at night is recommended.
